New Band on the Horizon

In the last few months I've had the privilege of working on new music by the drummer and composer Friso van Wijck. The music has a firm basis in modern composition and it was a pleasure to be invited by Friso to join his group with Jasper van Damme (Alto Saxophone), Jorn ten Hopen (Guitar), Frank Gones (guitar) and Bas Kloosterman (Electric Bass).

Tuesday evening we unveiled the project at Dizzy's in Rotterdam (part of North Sea Jazz around town) to a wonderfully receptive audience.

Konrad Koselleck Big Band feat. the band!

Time and again band leader Konrad Koselleck finds adventurous combinations of jazz, cabaret, musical, pop, rock, funk, Latin and even classical music. In the past 10 years he has arranged over 150 pieces of music for his big band. Some of these have been performed only once. For example, that song for a one-off show with a Viennese transvestite. Or the national anthem of Cameroon, performed during a live screening of the world cup match between The Netherlands and Cameroon at the Bimhuis. All these musical gems will now get a ‘second night stand’, with fresh adaptations featuring the excellent soloists of the band. A night full of music from all corners of the world.

Highlights: Dutch Concert Big Band

A Performance on national television (VPRO Vrije Geluiden) concluded the season. The video of which can be found on their site. and a clip of my performance with Jan-Willem (trumpet) and the band is above.
